Case Study: The Abbey School

http://www.theabbey.co.uk

The Abbey School is an independent girls school in Reading, Berkshire which offers a broad and balanced education for academically able girls from the early years of the Nursery through to the Sixth Form.

The Abbey School asked Team Discovery to upgrade their web site with a new CMS (Content Management System). The previous CMS was inflexible in managing content and eventually the school felt they had lost control of managing the site.

The Solution

The web site was redeveloped following the previous design but on the new technological level. HTML code has been rewritten completely following the CSS layouts conception. Adobe Contribute was selected as friendly and visual CMS for working with Static content. Web based Admin panel allows management of news, events, members list and other DB content.

CMS (Adobe Contribute)

The web site content is updated by several editors from The Abbey School stuff. They don't have technical knowledge about HTML and the idea was to make the updates as simple as possible. Adobe Contribute was selected based on these requirements. Shared access allows each administrator have access only to his information.

Events Calendar

Events Calendar allows to keep keep parents and girls informed about existing and forthcoming events.

Members Area

Members area provides additional information for schoolgirls, parents and school stuff. The personal information (Registration, Login, Members Area) is accessible via Secure server to provide the proper level of confidentiality.

Web site Statistics

Detailed statistic reports allow The Abbey School to trace the visitors activity on the web site and results of marketing campaigns. Statistics is generated daily and shows:

  • number of visitors per day, month, etc
  • number of visits from Search Engines and other web sites
  • keywords which visitors use to find the web site
